Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech – Road to the South
Welcome to Marrakech!
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your guide before setting off straight away towards the south. The journey takes you across the magnificent landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m). Along the way, the scenery constantly changes: majestic peaks, Berber villages clinging to valley slopes, terraced fields, and traditional earthen kasbahs. As you descend, the landscape slowly shifts, giving the first glimpses of the Sahara’s foothills.
In the evening, settle in for the night in Ouarzazate or Agdz, at the gateway to the desert.

The minibus ride reveals an ever-changing landscape of lush palm groves, earthen villages, and centuries-old kasbahs, with remarkable stops in places such as Agdz, Timidarte, and Zagora.
By midday, we reach the village of Zaouit Sidi Salah, nestled within a flourishing palm grove. Here you’ll meet your camel team, who will accompany you throughout the trek. After a delicious lunch prepared by our cook, we set out for a gentle first walk, immersing ourselves in the unique atmosphere of the desert. Our route leads to the Tidri dunes, where the camp is set up for the night in a majestic setting under the stars.
Walking time: 2–3 hrs
Accommodation: Desert camp (tented bivouac)

Transfer time: approx. 4 hrs
Day 3: Tidri – Erg Essahel – Dunes and Reg
The day begins with the crossing of the Drâa River—now dry, but once a life-giving stream that nourished these arid lands. We gradually make our way into the hills of Tidri, their gentle relief dotted with pre-Islamic tumuli, silent witnesses of ancient civilizations long forgotten.
As we continue, the landscape becomes increasingly mineral, opening onto a vast reg , the stony plateau so typical of the Sahara. This rocky desert suddenly gives way to the first dunes of Erg Essahel, creating a striking contrast between the harshness of stone and the soft, flowing lines of sand.
We pause for lunch beneath the rare shade of tamarisk trees, before resuming our journey along the dune ridges, carried by the golden afternoon light. Tonight, our camp is set up in the heart of the erg, where we will spend two nights in a majestic setting , an ideal place to embrace the silence and magic of the desert.
Walking time: 5 hrs
Accommodation: Desert camp (tented bivouac)
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 4: Erg Essahel – Second Night in the Same Camp
After a leisurely breakfast, we set out for a scenic loop hike across the varied desert landscapes—softly curving dunes and expansive stony regs. We return to the camp for lunch and a restful pause in the shade of the tents.
In the afternoon, enjoy an unforgettable camel ride, immersing yourself in the pure tradition of the nomadic caravans. The day ends beautifully with a sunset over the towering dunes, as the sand glows golden and the desert’s silence stretches across the horizon.
Walking time: 3–4 hrs
Accommodation: Desert camp (tented bivouac)
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 5: Erg Essahel – Erg Lahniti
Today’s walk takes us deep into a desert of a thousand faces, alternating between stony plains (regs), fossilized zones, and patches of Saharan vegetation where tamaris and acacias defy the arid conditions. The silence is profound, broken only by the footsteps of camels or the wind brushing over the stones.
In the distance, the villages of Bounou and Ouled Driss appear like true desert sentinels, symbols of life on the edge of the vast Saharan emptiness. Our camp is set up in Erg Lahniti, nestled among the dunes. At the end of the day, we climb a dune to watch the sunset—a suspended moment bathed in golden light, surrounded by absolute silence. An unforgettable experience at the heart of the Sahara.
Walking time: 5 hrs
Accommodation: Desert camp (tented bivouac)
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Day 6: From Erg Lahniti to the Bounou Oasis
On this final day of trekking, the caravan continues across a contrasting landscape of golden dunes, stony regs, and the ruins of ancient earthen villages , silent witnesses to the region’s nomadic and settled past. Gradually, the slender silhouettes of palm trees signal the approach of the beautiful Bounou Palm Grove, near Ouled Driss, famed for its fertile land and the delicate flavor of its dates.
Here, your Saharan walking adventure comes to an end. A heartfelt farewell with the camel team follows, before settling into a comfortable Saharan camp nestled among palms and golden sand. Modern comforts await you, including bathrooms, showers, and traditional khaimas (nomadic tents), for a peaceful night under the stars.
