Your journey begins at the hotel in Marrakech. Upon arrival at Marrakech Airport, your guide will greet you and assist with the short transfer to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to explore Marrakech at your own pace. Most visitors head to the central square of Djemaa el-Fna, beneath the beautiful minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, where you can enjoy a panoramic view while sipping mint tea at one of the cafes overlooking the square. In the evening, there will be an orientation from your guide over dinner at the hotel.

An early breakfast and departure as we journey across the western High Atlas Mountains. Leaving Marrakech, we travel southeast across the Haouz Plain, passing through traditional Berber villages before crossing the stunning Tizi n'Tichka Pass at 2,260 metres, the highest road pass in North Africa and the gateway to the Sahara Desert. After Ouarzazate, we enter the Dades Valley, known as the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, where wonderful fortified villages line our route. Our drive continues through the valley until we reach the village of Tagdilte, where we spend the night in a simple village house ; a perfect introduction to local culture. Tomorrow, we start our walk directly from our accommodation.

After breakfast and meeting our trekking crew, we set off directly from our lodging. Leaving the small settlement of Tagdilte, we pass through an oasis dotted with barley fields and fig tree covered slopes. Our trail winds through an awe-inspiring valley before we begin ascending the volcanic slopes of the Saghro ; a dramatic landscape filled with deep gorges and red rocky peaks. Along the way we may encounter several Ait Atta nomadic camps. The Ait Atta are a prominent Amazigh tribe whose original homeland is the Jebel Saghro massif. We are likely to see local shepherds tending their flocks before we ascend the Tizi Ouzarzam Pass at 2,500 metres. After descending, we reach our first camp. Dinner will be cooked by our camp crew and in these remote areas, far from any light pollution, the star-filled sky is magnificent.

Today we begin with a hearty breakfast as we gear up for the highlight of the journey ; the ascent of Mount Kouaouch at 2,600 metres. As one of the most prominent peaks in the Saghro region, Kouaouch rises dramatically from a lunar-like landscape shaped by minimal annual rainfall. Being one of the driest regions in the Atlas Range, the word Saghro means drought in the Tamazight language. Upon reaching the summit, we are rewarded with breathtaking views ; the snow-capped peak of Mgoun dominates the northern horizon and to the south the magnificent Sahara Desert stretches into the distance. After soaking in the views and capturing the summit photographs, we descend to our camp at Igli, not far from the rock formation known as the Camel's Hump.

After our summit day, today offers striking contrasts. We leave the valley of Afourar and head up to the high plateaus of Tadaout n'Tablah ; a remarkable region renowned for its stunning rock formations and the high grazing areas of the semi-nomadic Ait Atta Berbers. This tribe has inhabited Morocco since long before the arrival of Islam in the 7th century and continues to maintain its traditional nomadic lifestyle to this day. As we walk, we are surrounded by extraordinary formations including the Organ Pipe, the Elephant's Head and the Camel's Head. One of the most impressive formations in the Jebel Saghro is Bab n'Ali, meaning Ali's Gate. Our camp tonight is in the Amguis valley.

Today we venture deeper into a region of extraordinary rock formations and monoliths. Dirt roads still serve as trade routes with the neighbouring Sahara Desert. As we head to the foothills on the opposite side of the Jebel Saghro, we walk through several small villages, hamlets and farms in the Handour Valley. The small local farms here have carefully irrigated plots growing wheat, clover, carrots, tomatoes, chilies and almond orchards. After a wonderful final walking day we set up camp and prepare for our last night under the stars before heading back to Marrakech tomorrow.

After an early breakfast, we begin our transfer back to Marrakech heading toward the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains. We cross the Draa River and drive through an area of striking rock formations before arriving in Ouarzazate, a city popular with filmmakers ; Lawrence of Arabia, Prince of Persia and Gladiator were all filmed here. We then drive over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, arriving in Marrakech by late afternoon. After checking in at the hotel, there is free time to explore the legendary central square of Djemaa el-Fna, which comes alive with musicians, storytellers and food stalls from around 4pm. In the evening, we gather for a final dinner at a local restaurant.

Your journey concludes following breakfast. Depending on your flight schedule, you may take a final leisurely stroll around Marrakech before transfer to the airport. Highlights include the Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace and the vibrant Djemaa el-Fna square.
