Embarking from Marrakech, our expedition encompasses a scenic drive with a delightful pause for lunch en route. The pathway unfolds, presenting a captivating mosaic of landscapes through the Asni valley, adorned with terracotta hued villages nestled among fields of golden wheat. Passing through the charming village of Ouirgane, we continue our ascent toward the Tizi n'Test pass at 2,100 metres. Descending into the renowned Taliouine region, celebrated for its argan trees, we skirt the Anti Atlas and the Souss plain. Our path guides us upward to expansive plateaus for a two hour trek through cultivated fields and a picturesque valley. Our campsite at 1,500 metres promises a tranquil haven amidst nature.

Transitioning from arid terrain, we are greeted by the verdant Assif n'Ait Oubyal valley, adorned with fields of barley, wheat and saffron. Our journey carries us through the picturesque villages of Ait Esine, Ait Marouf and Ait Amrane. Continuing onward, we encounter basaltic columns before arriving at Tizgui, with its collective granaries serving as a testament to communal living. Today offers a splendid opportunity to immerse ourselves in traditional Berber life ; vibrant facades, colourful headscarves and herds of sheep and goats grazing peacefully. Our day concludes at Aghbalou Tizgui, 2,400 metres, a tranquil retreat amidst the rugged Atlas beauty.

Our journey unfolds with approximately two hours of delightful walking alongside a babbling stream. The trail gently ascends following the meandering course of the stream, then for an hour our path leads along narrow trails zigzagging amidst thorny bushes. We arrive at the summit of Guiliz, standing at 2,900 metres, greeted by a breathtaking panorama across the Siroua massif and the valley traversed yesterday. Descending is a leisurely hour long journey through a landscape that gradually transforms into tranquil beauty, adorned with high altitude sheepfolds and terraced gardens. We encamp near Tagragra azib at 2,600 metres, home to shepherds of the Beni M'Zguid tribe.

A very varied day combining picturesque gorges, rocky chaos and green valleys. In two to three hours we reach the ridge, the path winding between thorny bushes before passing through large rock formations standing against the sky, before reaching the rocky pinnacle of Siroua, the highest point of this journey. The view is exceptional over the High Atlas, the Ouarzazate plain and the Anti Atlas. The path then crosses eroded reliefs before reaching tiny fields carved out of the mountain and beautiful terraced slopes where saffron, barley and wheat grow. We camp near the Tissouitine sheepfolds at 2,450 metres, a magnificent hamlet of dry stone at the foot of whitish volcanic ash deposits.

We venture deeper into a captivating valley where a serene wadi gracefully meanders through the landscape. Villagers have crafted intricate irrigation channels nurturing vibrant crops in fertile soil. Scattered amidst this setting are magnificent sheepfolds, some fortified by rocky formations enclosed within dry stone walls. Our journey leads upwards toward the Anzounmer pass at 2,650 metres, granting expansive vistas of the High Atlas range. Descending through a picturesque gorge, we traverse fields of delicate saffron blossoms before arriving at the villages of Ait Ighmour and Idoughagh. Majestic walnut trees offer respite as we follow the wadi toward our campsite near the charming village of Tizouad.

Following a captivating two hour trek through breathtaking scenery, we arrive at the designated point near Tamazirte where our vehicles await. Our return journey to Marrakech takes us through the dramatic landscapes of the Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 metres. As we descend through the rugged mountain terrain we are treated to awe inspiring vistas along the way. Arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon, we check in at the hotel where comfort and relaxation await. With the evening ahead, there is ample time to immerse yourself in the vibrant ambiance of Jemaa el-Fna square and explore the treasures of the Red City.

Depending on your flight time, you may have the opportunity to further immerse yourself in the beauty of Marrakech and explore its iconic landmarks.
